Shujaat Bukhari's suspected killers have been caught on CCTV. Bukhari, editor of the Rising Kashmir newspaper, was shot outside his office in Srinagar's Press Enclave on Thursday evening.

Police said the attack was planned and that his killers had been waiting for Bukhari to walk out of his office in Srinagar's Press Enclave.

Bukhari was shot after he got into his car. Two PSOs (personal security officers) were also killed in the attack.

Bukhari had been on his way to an iftar party.

Kashmir Police has asked the general public to help identify the men. The men's faces however cannot be seen in the photographs released.

The man riding the motorcycle is wearing a helmet. The man sitting at the rear is wearing a black mask that covers the lower half of his face.

And the man sitting in the middle has his face covered in the three photos released by police.

He is also seen holding a sack — in which it is thought are kept the guns used in the attack on Bukhari.

Bukhari was a prominent journalist in Kashmir. He had been a former special correspondent with The Hindu before setting up his own newspaper.

He had been instrumental in organising several conferences for peace in the Kashmir Valley. He was also part of the Track II process with Pakistan.

Police meanwhile have formed a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the killing.
