Story highlights

The Devasom board which manages the Sabarimala temple has filed a review petition asking the top court to review its judgment.

The Sabarimala temple row does not seem to end. As many as 19 review petitions have been filed challenging the Supreme Court verdict which had allowed menstruating women to enter the shrine of Lord Ayyappa inside the Sabarimala temple in Kerala.

Earlier a five-judge bench had delivered a judgment in which they allowed women of all ages to enter the temple.

However, the judgment has caused massive unrest in the state as conservative factions have expressed anger as the custom of not allowing menstruating women to enter is essential to maintaining the sanctity of the temple.

The Devasom board which manages the Sabarimala temple has filed a review petition asking the top court to review its judgment.

CJI Ranjan Gogoi led bench heard the urgent mentioning today and asked the petitioners to wait till tomorrow. The apex court will decide tomorrow as to when can all 19 review petitions be heard.
