The Supreme Court on Monday sought a response from the Centre over its stand on Section 377.
The apex court was hearing a petitionfiled against the constitutional validity of Section 377, which criminalises gay sex.
Thepetitionwas filed by hotelier Keshav Suri.

Challenging the constitutional validity of the section, he said he was living under constant pressure and was not able to live a life of dignity. He also said that he could not exercise his choice to live and have sexual relations with his partner, reports said.
The petition was moved by his lawyer Mukul Rohatgi.
The Supreme Court has asked theCentre to respond on the matter within a week.
