A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the Unnao rape case of a woman allegedly raped by Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and his brothers.

It will also investigate the custodial death of the 18-year-old victim's father.

Anand Kumar, ADG while assuring a strict action to be taken said, "Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe all allegations related to Unnao matter. The investigation is being done & action will definitely be taken".

Earlier today, Atul Singh, the brother of the rape-accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar, was arrested in Unnao.

The victim's fatherdied on Monday in police custody in Unnao, prompting her to charge that he was killed inside the jail at the behest of the lawmaker.

The relatives of the family have alleged that he was murdered by Kuldeep Singh Sengar.

To which ADG informed that the postmortem report states cause of death to be shock and septicemia due to peritonitis and ascending colon perforation.

Following the incident, two police officers and four constables weresuspended.

The ADG also said that so far clean chit has not been given to anyone in the matter.

The woman's father was arrested on Sunday after the family attempted suicide outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Lucknow residence.

The woman has alleged of being raped on June 4 last year but no action so far action has been taken so far.

She further said that she and her family were also threatened after they filed an FIR which police filed after stalling it for a year.

The accused Kuldeephas rejected the charges and called it a conspiracy by his opponents.
