Schools and colleges also remain closed, heavy security has been put in place by the authorities to thwart any attemptat protests. Transportation is off the roads, as a result commuters are facing problems in their daily travel.

On Saturday, five terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and a joint team of the Indian army, J&K police and Central Reserve Police Force. Clashes erupted soon after the encounter which led to the killing of a civilian.

The train service connecting Baramulla district in the north with the Qazigund in the south has also been suspended as part of a security measure.

Forces have been deployed in strength in the old city of Srinagar where clashes erupt frequently.
