Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor passes away at 79

Veteran Bollywood superstar Shashi Kapoor died aged 79 on Monday.

The actor's death has left the cinema industry and his family in a state of shock.

Actor Mohit Marwah took to Twitter to sharethenews. He wrote: “My favourite shashi kapoor rests in peace today will be remembered always.”

The actor was suffering from old age related illnesses.

The actor who starred in several hit movies in the 70s including Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Deewar and Namak Halaal was born in Kolkata in 1938.

Son of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor started acting in films as a child in the late 1940s.

In 2011, he was honoured with the Padma Bhushan. Two years ago he was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
