In the early morning trade, the Sensex was down 867 points as the BJP began trailing in Gujarat election polls.

Nifty also slumped 258.45 points to 10,074.80 as early leads in Gujarat assembly polls began to trickle in.

Though the BJP took the lead immediately after the counting started, the trend reversed with Congress closing the gap. However, the BJP established its lead in the polls and is now leading in more than 100 seats.
