Security given to Sonu Nigam, 2 BJP MLAs after Pakistan terror outfit issues threat

The Maharashtra State Intelligence Department Monday issued an advisory of a threat to singer Sonu Nigam and two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs, namely Ram Kadam and Ashish Shelar.
The issued advisory cites a threat to the popular singer and politicians by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a terror outfit operating out of neighbouring country Pakistan.
According to sources in the state department and Mumbai police, security of the three has been increased.

This comes in the wake of Sonu Nigam making controversial statements last year regarding the use of loudspeakers during azaan (morning prayer) at mosques. It drew a lot of flak from the Muslim community in India and social media users in general.
