Neeraj Shekhar, son of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, resigned as a member of the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Samajwadi Party leader Neeraj Shekhar on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of BJP general secretary Bhupender Yadav.
Neeraj Shekhar, son of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar, resigned as a member of the Rajya Sabha on Monday. He told Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu that he was resigning voluntarily.
According to reports, he also met other senior BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah before resigning as Rajya Sabha MP.
As per the rules, if a Member hands over the letter of resignation to the Chairman personally and informs him that the resignation is voluntary and genuine and the Chairman has no information or knowledge to the contrary, the Chairman may accept the resignation immediately.
He had been a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh since November 26, 2014, and was due to retire on November 25, 2020.
