Rajasthan: Kolihan mine rescue successful, all 14 officials safe

Around 14 people, who were trapped in a Rajasthan mine, have been successfully rescued.They got stuck on Tuesday (May 14) night after a vertical shaft (Lift) collapsed in the Jhunjhunu mine. The rescue operation was immediately launched to evacuate the trapped individuals.

“All the trapped persons have been successfully rescued following a lift collapse at the Kolihan mine of Hindustan Copper Limited in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district,” Dr Pravin Sharma, a member of the rescue team informed the media.

The nursing staff of Jhunjhunu Government Hospital, told news agency ANI, “Some people have suffered fractures in hands and some in legs. Three people are seriously injured, while others are safe."

Dr Pravin Sharma, Jhunjhunu Government Hospital said, “All the people trapped in the mine have been rescued safely. Three of them were in serious condition and have been referred to Jaipur."

Earlier, BJP MLA Dharmpal Gurjar said, “I had gone to Haryana for election campaign but when I got this information, I immediately came here. I called everyone and took stock of the entire situation. I have called the SDM here. The rescue team is engaged and 6-7 ambulances are standing here... The entire administration is on alert. There is no report of any casualty so far, definitely everyone will come out safely."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma reacts to incident

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, upon being informed about the incident, directed officials to speed up the rescue operation.

said in a post on X, “Officials have been instructed to speed up the relief and rescue operations. Authorities received reports of a lift cable break at the Hindustan Copper Limited's Kolihan mine in Khetri, Jhunjhunu district. Officials have been directed to reach the site immediately, expedite rescue efforts, and ensure all possible medical assistance is provided to those affected.
