Rajasthan Assembly Elections top developments: BJP triumphs, returns to power dislodging Congress

After a big win in state elections, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "...Today's victory is historical and unprecedented...The idea of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' has won today..."

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot tendered his resignation to Governor Kalraj Mishra on Sunday (Dec 3) after BJP won the elections by a wide margin.

Union Minister Arjun Munda says, "The people have faith in the BJP and PM Modi... Under PM Modi's leadership the BJP regained the trust of the people. The people of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh assured to bring the double engine government for the welfare of the states."

BJP has put on a grand show and so far was able to secure a win in 96 seats. Congress has won in 54 seats. 

BJP is continuing to gain more ground in Rajasthan, having secured win in 81 seats. BJP leader Rajendra Rathore said, "We have received the mandate in Rajasthan. It was confirmed that the bad governance of Congress was going to end... The policies of PM Modi have been approved in all three states. This is a referendum on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi's government will be formed once again with a huge majority in the Lok Sabha elections... The new government would be formed in Rajasthan in a few days."

Speaking over BJP leading the election race in Rajasthan, State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said, "We did not leave any stone unturned and were fully prepared for the elections. We thought people would vote for us based on our current schemes but that did not happen. We will analyse this. I thought people would take revenge from PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah but I think the public could not understand this..."

BJP is close to the halfway mark of 100 as it secures a win in 71 seats while also leading in 44 seats. 

BJP has clinched a win on 58 seats as the party is leading the race in 57 seats with vote counting still underway. 

A popular Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasara is leading on the constituency seat of Lachhmangarh in Rajasthan state by 16,054 votes, as per ECI's latest tally. 

BJP gained more seats by securing the win on 53 while leading in 62. 

BJP has won 43 seats as Indian PM Narendra Modi, in a post on X thanked 'Janta Janardhan', a phrase in Hindi that means "common person" and is often used in the context of political slogans.

Congress' Rajasthan President Govind Singh Dotasra said, "A day after tomorrow, we are calling a meeting of the legislative party in Jaipur."

BJP has won 27 seats as the tally goes underway. The party is in the lead in 87 seats while Congress is leading in 51 seats having won 19 out of 199 state assembly seats. 

BJP leader from Jhalrapatan constituency, Vasundhara Raje, won by a margin of 53,193 votes while garnering 1,38,831 votes, as per ECI.  

Raje held the Chief Ministerial position for two terms, first from 2003-2008 and second from 2013-2018.

BJP has so far won 20 seats and leading on 94 while Congress only managed to secure a win on 7 seats by now.

As the vote-counting is underway, the leading seats for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), India's prominent political party again saw a dip. 

As per the latest from the Election Commission of India (ECI), the party is leading in 99 seats while the Congress is leading in 64 seats.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai on the party's performance in Assembly elections says, "Congress worked hard and its effect should have been seen. With some people who are working as the 'B' team of BJP in other states, it has affected the results...."

In the latest trends by the Election Commission, the BJP was seen trailing in a constituency, bringing down the earlier projections of 114 seats to 113. Congress is also trailing un one seat, bringing down the total number of leads to 69.

On Congress trailing in MP, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, party leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam says, "Opposing Sanatan (Dharma) has sunk the party. This country has never accepted caste-based politics...This is the curse of opposing Sanatan (Dharma)."

BJP is now leading in 114 seats, while the Congress is trailing with leads in just 70 constituencies, as per the latest data on the Election Commission's website.

Keeping up the two-decade-old tradition, the early trends shown by the Election Commission suggests that the revolving door jinx has again played its part in this year's elections.  

Since 1993, Rajasthan has been governed by rotating parties every five years. In 2018, the Congress ousted the BJP government, while the reverse is taking place this year.

Leaders of the BJP were celebrating the party's lead in the Rajasthan election. As per the latest ECI trends, the BJP is leading in 102 seats followed by the Congress in 77 seats, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in three seats.

BJP leader and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje is leading in the Jhalrapatan assembly seat with 24,250 votes.

In the 2018 election, Raje secured 54 per cent votes, defeating then-Congress leader Manvendra Singh, who is now the BJP's candidate from the Siwana constituency,

The BJP is now leading in 96 seats in Rajasthan while the Congress is leading in 67 seats, the latest ECI trends show. 

With the BJP leading in Rajasthan, state BJP President CP Joshi said on Sunday that his party will win over 135 seats in the election. 

"This lead will keep growing. We will win over 135 seats," Joshi told reporters. 

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot continues to maintain lead in the Sardarpura assembly seat with 12,536 votes. Chief Minister Gehlot has won this seat since 1998. 

Current ECI trends show that the BJP is leading in 71 seats while the Congress is leading in 46 seats.

Among all the 199 constituencies, all eyes are set on Sardarpura, Tonk, Jhalarapatan, Nathdwara, Jhunjhunu, Jhotwara, and Churu among others.

Sardarpura is on the list of key constituencies as Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has won this seat since 1998. 

BJP leader and former chief minister Vasundhara Raje is contesting from Jhalarapatan.

In Tonk, former Congress leader and former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot will be taking on BJP's Ajit Singh Mehta.

The BJP is on a leading spree in Rajasthan with 52 seats, the latest trends from the ECI show. The Congress is leading in 34 seats.

BJP MP and candidate from Vidhyadhar Nagar, Diya Kumari was seen offering prayers at the Govind Devji temple in Jaipur.

Kumari is currently leading from the seat with over 7,000 votes.

The BJP is continuing its leading spree in Rajasthan with 34 seats, while the Congress is leading in 28 seats, trends from the ECI show. 

The BJP is back in the lead in Rajasthan with 17 seats while the Congress is leading in 13 seats, the latest trends from the ECI show.

The ruling Congress party in Rajasthan is leading in four seats- Kishan Pole, Chomu and Deeg-Kumher while the BJP is leading on the Chaksu assembly seat, latest trends from the ECI show. 

According to early trends, BJP is leading in 75 seats, while the Congress in 65 seats, in what can be described as a neck an neck fight.

Now, BJP has lead in 36 seats, while Congress in 29, in what can bee seen as a tight race in early trends.

According to early trends, Congress is leading in 15 states, while the BJP leads in 13 states. A party needs to win 101 seats in order to gain majority in the 200-seated assembly.

The counting of votes for 199 out of 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan has began on Sunday morning after an electrified campaign by the ruling Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

 "The results will exceed expectations," says Congress leader Pawan Khera  ahead of counting of votes in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Telangana today.
