Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi launched "Indira canteen" in Karnataka's Bengaluru on Wednesday.
#IndiraCanteen became a top trending tag on micro-blogging site Twitter throughthe morning.
The canteen will servesubsidised meals withbreakfast priced at Rs 5 and lunch/dinner at Rs 10.
The model of the canteen is similar to "Amma canteens" in the state of Tamil Nadu which also serve affordable meals.
In a speech, Gandhi said there are plans to open such canteens across the state.
