Pune Porsche Crash: Police arrest teen driver's father, family of victim calls it 'murder'

The father of a 17-year-old boy, who was driving a Porsche that crashed into a motorcycle and killed two people, was arrested by Pune Police from Aurangabad in the west Indian state of Maharashtra.
The police also arrested the owners of some bars wherealcohol was servedto the minor before he got involved in the car accident.
The accident happened on Sunday morning (May 19) in the Kalyani Nagar area, Pune.
As per police reports, a luxury Porsche - which was being driven by the boy, crashed into a motorcycle and instantly killed itspassengersAnis Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta.
In the fatal crash, whichwas capturedon CCTV, the carwas seenmoving at a speed of around 200 kmph in a narrow lane.

Now, the case hasbeen transferredto Pune Police's crime branch.
The boy's father has been charged by the Pune policeunder sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
These sections are related to willful neglect of a child and giving intoxicating substances to a minor.
How did the accident happen?
At around 2:15 am (local time), two IT engineers - Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta - were coming back from a get-together when their bikewas hitby a speeding Porsche from behind. Both died on the spot.
Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said that the minor, who was driving the car, was celebrating his class 12 results at a local pub where hewas seendrinking alcohol before the crash.
In Maharashtra, the legal drinking age is 25. Henceitwas illegal for the pubs to serve him.
What happened to the accused?
The 17-year-old boy,who wasdriving the car, was granted bail by a Pune court in 15 hours. His lawyerPrashantPatilsaidthat bail wasgrantedto him on the condition that he would work with traffic police for 15 days, write a 300-word essay on accidents and undergo treatment and counselling to improve his drinking habit.
The swift bail granted to the minor led to a massive outrage.
Pune police said thattheyhave appealed to the court to permit them to try the minor as an adult.
However, the pleawas rejected.

"Two people have died in this accident.Thisis completely wrong. We want strict punishment.The bail granted to the accused should be cancelled," he said.
Meanwhile, his uncle Akhilesh Awadhiya added, "The accused, a minor, was drunk and was driving at 240 km per hour. He did not have a driving licence.Thisis murder, not accident."
