Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 pm on Tuesday.

The information was shared by the Prime Minister's Office on its Twitter handle.

The Prime Minister's latest address to the nation comes amid speculation that lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus is likely to be extended beyond May 17 with fewer restrictions in areas not severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister on Monday addressed the chief ministers of 28 states and Union Territories via video conference. During the address, he said he was of the "firm view that the measures needed in the first phase of lockdown were not needed during the second phase and similarly the measures needed in the third phase are not needed in the fourth," according to an official statement.

The meeting with the chief ministers focused on increasing the economic activities and to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in containment zones as the lockdown 3.0 is set to end on May 17.

The lockdown was first announced on March 25.
