Pakistan summons Indian envoy over alleged ceasefire violations

Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh over alleged ceasefire violations, news agency ANI reported.

Ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control (LoC) have witnessed a huge rise from 2015 to 2018, the government had informed Rajya Sabha this July.

Minister of State (MoS) in the Defence Ministry Subhash Bhamre told Rajya Sabha that there were 152 cases of CFVs in 2015.

According to the minister, the violations went up to 228 and 860 in 2016 and 2017 respectively. Bhamre also underlined that till July 23 this year, Pakistan had already violated the ceasefire as many as 942 times.

According to Bhamre, as many as 69 civilians were killed in cross-border firing and ceasefire violation-related incidents between 2015 to 2018, whereas 72 civilians were killed, 235 were injured in cross-border infiltration incidents in the last three years.
