Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday inaugurated India's first 'smart fence' pilot project along the India-Pakistan International Border in Jammu.

Singh, during his one-day visit to the state, reached the Border Security Force (BSF) Headquarters at Paloura today morning and formally launched the initiative taken by the force as a part of the Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System.

The Home Minister stated that the introduction of the border management system will make India's borders more secure.

He further added that the technology will be introduced along the border, across 2026 kilometre range that is considered vulnerable.

"I understand that after introducing Comprehensive Integrated Border Managment System our borders will be more secure. We'll introduce this technology across 2026 km of the border which is considered vulnerable. It'll also reduce dependence on physical patrolling," Singh added.

The Home Minister is expected to hold a review of the situation prevailing along the International Border (IB) in Jammu region today with the top brass of the BSF.

Meanwhile,Minister of State, External Affairs, General VK Singh on Monday criticised Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan over infiltration incidents at the Indo-Pak border.

"Did you expect any change from a man propped up by (Pak) Army?," Singh said.

"Let's wait and watch how things move, whether a person remains under army's control or doesn't," he stated.

He also spoke on the possibility of a dialogue with Pakistan stating that "it will happen if the environment is made conducive for it."

"I think our policy is very clear. Dialogue will happen provided the environment is made conducive for it," Singh told media.
