Opinion: Now, Harivansh Rai Bachchan inspires millennials

I think the most difficult task is to give a poetic arrangement to words and poets know how exactly it's done. They have achieved excellence in playing with words.

Do you remember any poem from your textbooks? Obviously apart from "Twinkle Twinkle little star" and "Baa baa black sheep". OK, Make a list. I hope it's not too long.

Poems of Harivansh Rai Bachchan has won many hearts and after his death, his son Amitabh Bachchan has given his beautiful voice to many poems composed by him.

Poems that were in school books have suddenly become relevant now. Earlier, I used to memorise and now, I am quoting those to describe my feelings and emotions. Harivansh Rai Bachchan was definitely my one of thefavourites.

Harivansh Rai Bachchan was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Hindi literature.

Super senior Bachchan was born on 27th November 1907. He is the second Indian to get his doctorate degree in English literature from Cambridge University. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan for his contribution to Hindi literature.

Here, I am quoting two of my favourite poems written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, to remember his brilliant work and to also give him a tribute on his birth anniversary.

"Jo BeetGayi So Baat Gayi"

Jeevan Main Ek Sitara Tha
Maana Vah Behad Pyara Tha
Vah Doob Gaya To Doob Gaya
Ambar Kay Aanan Ko Dekho
Kitne Iskay Taare Toote
Kitne Iskay Pyare Choote
Jo Choot Gaye Fir Kahan Mile
Par Bolo Toote Taaron Par
Kab Ambar Shok Manata Hai
Jo Beet Gayi So Baat Gayi

Metaphrase: There was a star in life
agreed, it was much loved
when it sank, it did sink.
Look at the sky’s vastness,
so many stars have broken away
so many loved ones it has lost
the lost ones, were they ever found?
But tell me, for the broken stars
does the sky ever grieve?
That which is past, is gone.

Sometimes moving on is all that matters and if you are alive then make your life worth living.

"Jo beet gayiso baat gayi," a poem that is connected so deeply to my soul. Recently, I discovered an endearment towards it. The only poem that became meaningful when something terrible happened in my life when my papa passed away. So, I can say Yes, there was a star in my life and he was much loved. He had to leave and he left but when I look around, there are so many who are living without their loved ones but the life goes on.

Sometimes moving on is all that matters and if you are alive then make your life worth living. The presence of the departedones will always be in our lives the way my papa is in the formof this poem. If you derive new meanings from a poem or song then it means that the song or poem has touched your heart and soul.

The second poem that I am quoting is, "Agneepath", If you are Bollywood fan, then you must have heard these line in the movies "Agneepath".

Vriksh hon bhale khade,
Hon ghane, hoh bade,
Ek patra chhah bhi
Maang mat! Maang mat! Maang mat!
Agneepath! Agneepath! Agneepath!

Metaphrase:Even if there are mighty trees all around you,
Let them be shady, let them be huge,
But, even for the shade of a single leaf,
Beg not, beg never, ask never!
The path of fire you shall tread! The path of fire! Yes, That Path of Fire!

My first teacher, my mum, she has told me once that"Your dignity is supreme". It doesn't matter in which situation you are, it does not matter where you have reached in life, it doesn't matter what is the age, it doesn'tmatter where you live, it does not matter with whom you hang out, but yourdignity must never be compromised.

When I read this beautiful piece written by Harivansh Rai Bachchan, then it feels my mum is giving me a lesson of life.

Harivansh Rai Bachchan has touched our lives with many of his literary works. Few we read in school to pass in the examination and few become the lesson of life.

Not only the above-mentioned poems, but his other works, such as Madhushala, AndhereKa Deepak, Jeewan Ki Aapadhapi me, etc are also exponentially amazing, and it is definitely going to inspire a million others.
