The temple witnessed massive rush as several hundreds of devotees from all across South India gathered to pay their respects in the heavy rain.
The four-day Onasadya offerings, an elaborate vegetarian feast, began at Lord Ayyappa temple on Sunday as part of the Onam celebrations.

The traditional ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by thantri, the head priest Maheshwararu Mohanaru accompanied by melsanthi or chief-priest, Unnikrishnan Namboodiri at 11 am.
After the ceremony, the priests started offering Onasadya dishes, including sweets, on a banana leaf kept in front of a ceremonial lamp.
The feast continued till 2.30 pm. Offerings will continue till the festivities come to aconclusion on Wednesday. Ceremonial prayers known as Kalabhabhishekam, sahasrakalasam and laksharchana will be performed during the Onam festival days.
