On Indira Gandhi's death anniversary, Rahul Gandhi slams 'rising intolerance' in country

On former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's death anniversary on October 31, her grandson, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government blaming it for the "rising intolerance" in the country.

"The idea of India that Indira Gandhi fought for has been thrown fundamentally into question by rising intolerance that we see today," Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress vice-president added that like Indira Gandhi, everyone must be "unfazed and undaunted against the forces of darkness."

Rahul Gandhi also tweeted an image of his grandmother, and wrote, "Forgiveness is the virtue of the brave."

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi attended a prayer meeting at the memorial of the former Prime Minister in New Delhi on October 31.

Indira Gandhi was the prime minister of the country from 1966 to 1977. She was assassinated in 1984.
