Northern army commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, visited forward posts in Western Ladakh to review operational preparedness in the sector.

The temperature hits very low during the winter in Ladakh and it becomes difficult to carry out day to day activities in the region as the road which connects Kargil and Ladakh from Kashmir remains shut for months as high snow accumulates on the ground. 

“He urged them to continue to discharge their duty with the same tenacity and resolve,” a statement released by the Indian army said. 

Singh also paid homage at the Kargil War Memorial along with Lt Gen YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding, Fire & Fury Corps.
