A day after Kamal Nath's nephew Ratul Puri was arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a bank fraud case, the Madhya Pradesh chief minister on Tuesday said he has no connection with the business his nephew is doing.

"I have no connection with the business they are doing. To me, it appears to be a purely mala fide action. I have full faith that courts will take corrective stand in this," ANI news agency quoted Kamal Nath.

Puri was booked by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday for alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption on the complaint filed by Murali Chetturi, a deputy general manager of Central Bank of India.

His father and Managing Director Deepak Puri, Directors Nita Puri (Ratul's mother and Kamal Nath's sister), Sanjay Jain and Vineet Sharma were also booked by the agency.

The case against Ratul Puri pertains to alleged irregularities in the purchase of 12 VVIP choppers from Italy-based firm AgustaWestland.

The deal was scrapped by the NDA government in 2014 over the alleged breach of contractual obligations and charges of payment of kickbacks for securing the deal.
