No-confidence motion: Paresh Rawal says if Rahul speaks without notes, Earth will shake

Paresh Rawal

Story highlights

Rawal added that if Rahul did not fumble, and made no mistakes while speaking for 15 minutes, then not only would the earth shake, but it would also dance.

Paresh Rawal, the actor-turned-politician, took another cheap shot at Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday.

Rawal said that if Rahul spoke today at the debate on the no-confidence motion without reading, and without fumbling, then the earth would shake.

For good measure, he added a few more criteria.

He said that if Rahul did not fumble, and made no mistakes while speaking for 15 minutes, then not only would the earth shake, but it would also dance.

The comment may have been an allusion to one of Rajiv Gandhi's most well-known remarks. Rahul's father Rajiv had, after Indira Gandhi's death, said that "when a giant tree falls, the Earth shakes".

Delhi's anti-Sikh riots had taken place soon after that.

Rawal, who is MP from Ahmedabad East, has also attacked Rahul in the past. He has also retweeted a fake tweet attributed to Rahul Gandhi

The tweet later turned out to have been tampered with.
