Watch: Mob beats Nigerian national in Delhi

A Nigerian man was beaten mercilessly by a mob in Delhi a few days ago but the Delhi Police allegedly filed a FIR which said the man was hurt after he fell from the stairs.

The incident occurred in Delhi'sMalviya Nagar.

The Nigerianwas tied to a pillar after the mob suspectedthe manhad stolen money, he was then beaten continuously even though he kept pleading to be let off.

"Even if the Nigerian national was stealing, beating him is not justified," Ishwar Singh, DCP South said.

"When the video surfaced we got to know what happened. He was beaten up because of theft suspicion, there is no racial basis," he added.
