NIA conducts searches across Delhi & UP for Islamic State cell, 5 arrested

The National Investigation Agency is conducting searches across New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in connection with what it says is an Islamic State cell.

The NIA said the searches are being conducted across 16 locations in Delhi and UP.

The alleged Islamic State cell is reportedly called "Harkat ul Harb e Islam".

The news agency ANI put out visuals of one of the NIA searches from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP anti-terrorism squad has since confirmed "a joint operation"with the NIA.

It added that five people have been arrested in Amroha.
