The Manipur government has set up a committee to investigate the construction of border pillar by Myanmar close to the Indian territory.

The international border between Myanmar and India is separated by "border pillars" and trees for years.

However, a recent border pillar constructed on June 22 at the Kwatha Khunou has been a cause of resentment for the locals residing in the region wherethey claimthat the pillar was constructed inside the Indian territory.

Responding to the resentment Manipur chief ministerN Biren Singh said that the area was agreed by both Indian and Myanmar officials.

He further stated that the border hasn’t been finalised yet and an investigation is on into the matter.
