Bihar shelter home case: Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal join RJD protest in Delhi

The political battle on Saturday intensified as Rashtriya Janata Dal party leader Tejshwani Yadav staged a protest against the Bihar government over the mass rape cases in Muzaffarpur shelter home at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Among the top opposition leaders whojoined the protest are Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress president Rahul Gandhi who also arrived at Jantar Mantar.

Student activists and Kanhaiya Kumar and Shehla Rashid have also joined the protest.

Eleven employees of a child shelter home in Muzaffarpur were arrested on July 24 for allegedly sexually abusing the inmates. After receiving information, the police raided the vicinity and rescued 44 girls.

Since the reports came out of the case, Tejshwani Yadav has been criticising Bihar government and demandeda resignation ofchief minister Nitish Kumar.

The news agency ANI quoted Tejshwani Yadav saying before the protest that, "We want Brajesh Thakur to be hanged till death. If you see the number of crimes in Bihar has increased in the past one year. Cases of gangrape are being reported back to back from various districts of the state".

He also accused Nitish Kumar of shielding the prime accused Brajesh Thakur.

"Even after the report of Child Commission was out no action was taken. FIR was lodged 2 months after Tata Insititute report came and in that too name of prime accused Brajesh Thakur was missing. Somehow Brajesh has been a close aide of Nitish Ji," ANI quoted him as saying.
