Mumbaikars woke up to a densely foggy Saturday morning, leaving many wondering whether it was weatherplay or pollution enveloping the Maximum city.

Many trains ran behind schedule as the 'city of dreams' struggled to see its usual balmy sunshine and grappled with low visibility during the early morning hours.

For a city known to bear the brunt of torrential downpours, a smog-like situation emerged out of the blue and shocked many.

Indian Meteorological Department's regional centre in Mumbai predicted "mainly clear" skies for Mumbai on its official website, calling the fog a passing phenomenon.
