Due to heavy rains and waterlogging four subways in the north-west part of Mumbai had to be closed for traffic on Tuesday, officials said. The four subways named Golibar, Milan, Andheri and Malad connect the east and west stretches of the north-western suburbs. According to a report by PTI, "Motorists have been diverted to alternate routes due to the closure of these four subways at present. Rains have caused traffic snarls in several places, leading to vehicles moving at snail's pace or getting stalled for long periods", a traffic police official said.

Heavy rains have left roads waterlogged which is causing traffic jams in many parts of the state, which was warned by the Maharashtra government as well. A very high traffic jam was reported on Tuesday afternoon, at the Mankoli naka in Bhiwandi, which is one of the vital roads that connects Thane, Bhiwnadi, Kalyan – Nashik highway.

Maharashtra's new CM Eknath Shinde reached the BMC headquarter's disaster management room in Mumbai today, amid the heavy rains in many parts of the state. He may address the media after his visit to the headquarters.

Few hours back the Maharashtra government said that inundation is possible in some areas and that is what happened. Areas including Mumbai and Konkan have been inundated due to heavy rains. Officials on Tuesday, said that heavy rains have inundated many towns, villages in different areas, hitting road and rail traffic.

Heavy rains have resulted in waterlogged roads all over Maharashtra. Recent updates are coming about waterlogged roads in Vashi and Navi Mumbai. This has resulted in traffic jams and posing difficulties for vehicles to move. Roads of Sion, Bandra, King Circle, Matunga and Kurla were also flooded with. Roads were filled with knee-deep water in Andheri.
