Modi desperate about BJP loss in Gujarat, Pak trying to influence polls is outrageous: Anand Sharma

Congress leader Anand Sharma on Monday described Modi's statement that Pakistan was trying to influence the Assembly elections in Gujarat ''outrageous''.

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's allegations that the Pakistan was trying to influence the Assembly elections in Gujarat and that some Pakistani officials and ex-prime minister Manmohan Singh met a day before Mani Shankar Aiyar made the "neech" jibe against him, Congress leader Sharma saidthat statement was an attempt to polarize the countryahead of thesecond phase of votingand added that it showed Modi's desperation.

BJP's loss was now guaranteed, he added.

Ex-Pakistan Foreign Minister was here to attend a wedding andthere was a dinner organized for him in which there were former diplomats, former Army chief among other dignitaries. Does PM think they were all conspiring with Pak? Reprehensible.PM must apologize, Sharma further said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Sunday by suggesting that Pakistan was trying to influence the Assembly elections in Gujarat. Modi also claimed that some Pakistani officials and ex-prime minister Manmohan Singh met a day before Mani Shankar Aiyar made the "neech" jibe against him.

The meeting took place at Aiyar's residence, Modi claimed.

He also raised questions about the alleged appeal by former director general (DG) of the Pakistan Army Sardar Arshad Rafiq to make senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel the chief minister of Gujarat.
