Modi and Abe lay foundation stone of Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, says he hopes that the project gets completed by 2022 when India will celebrate its 75th year of independence.  

PM Modi: "High-speed training institute to be built in Vadodara. Will impart skills in high-speed technology"

PM Modi: "Eastern and Western freight corridors are being built to cut the time taken to transport goods."

PM Modi: "Doubling of tracks and its electrification has been fast-tracked. Investment in railways has gone up and faster completion of projects are being undertaken."

PM Modi: "GST has shortened the time taken to transport goods from one place to another."

PM Modi: Our manufacturing units will benefit from the Bullet Train project. It will boost the "Make in India" programme, will generate direct and indirect employment. 

PM Modi: The Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail project will make the corridor into a 'Special Economic Zone'.

Japan has extended India a loan of Rs 88,000 crore at an interest rate of 0.1 per cent. Prime Minister Modi thanked Japan for its support in building the high-speed rail. 

"Growth will come from areas of high-speed corridors," PM Modi said.

PM Modi: "Technology is changing rapidly. Our focus is on high-speed connectivity. More productivity with high-speed connectivity."

A good transport network plays an important role in nation's development. The Prime Minister said that the Bullet Train changed the face of Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe extended his support to the "Make In India" programme. He said that if both the countries work together nothing is impossible.

On the criticism of the Bullet Train project, railway minister Piyush Goyal said that many people criticised Rajdhani Express as well but now everybody wants to travel in it.

Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is at the foundation stone laying ceremony in Ahmedabad, said that the inauguration of the Bullet Train project is also the inauguration of a "New India".
