Mobile internet services to be suspended in Haryana till Sunday ahead of public rallies

The Haryana government has suspended mobile internet services in 13 districts of the state till the midnight of November 26 to maintain law and order.

Haryana Additional Chief Secretary (Home) S S Prasad on Friday made the announcement ahead of rallies to be carried out by a Jat body and ruling BJP's Kurukshetra lawmaker on Sunday.

According to Prasad, Internet services, SMS and dongle services will be suspended in Jind, Bhiwani, Hisar, Fatehabad, Karnal, Panipat, Kaithal, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar and Charkhi Dadri.

"The order is issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of the state of districts as mentioned and shall be in force for the next three days," the order said.

It mentioned that there is a possibility of causing tension, annoyance, obstruction or injury to persons, danger to human life and property, disturbance of public peace and tranquillity within the limits of state of Haryana by protestors or agitators and anti-social elements during the two public rallies on Sunday at Jassia in Rohtak district and at Jind.

The government’s order comes following an incident of road blockage due to protest in Jind district and police's resort to lathi-charge on Friday.

Jat leader Sandeep Bharti, who led the protesters, was demanding cancellation of Saini's rally.

Kurukshetra MP Mr Saini, who had been opposing quota for Jats, had earlier announced a "Samanta Maha Sammelan" in Jind for November 26.
