Massive fire erupts at a shopping complex in Hyderabad’s Helmet Bazaar

A massive fire erupted at a shopping complex in Hyderabad’s Helmet Bazaar on Thursday (Jun 4). While the incident resulted in panic in the busy commercial area of Ameerpet, no injuries were reported so far. According to media reports, at least seven fire tenders rushed to the site to prevent the fire from spreading nearby.

“A fire broke out at a helmate Bazar in Ameerpet, Hyderabad. Seven fire engines reached the spot and controlling the fire. There are no casualties reported so far,” a fire official said, as quoted by ANI. Further details are awaited.

Videos showed thick plumes of smoke and flames rising from the building in the busy market area.

The incident comes just a day after a deadly blaze at Delhi’s Malviya Nagar claimed the lives of at least 21 people, including several foreign nationals, raising serious questions about fire safety compliance, emergency preparedness and the functioning of hospitality establishments operating in densely populated residential areas.

Earlier this year, Hyderabad witnessed several fire incidents in commercial establishments. On Friday, a major blaze erupted in a godown located inside a commercial building on Masab Tank Main Road. Three fire tenders were deployed to the spot, while local police and Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel assisted in the operation.

In another incident on May 14, a fire broke out at a furniture store in the Hayathnagar area, causing panic among residents and nearby shopkeepers. Two fire tenders were rushed to the scene to bring the flames under control after sustained firefighting efforts.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the Hayathnagar fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. However, officials said the exact cause would be determined only after a detailed inspection. The extent of damage to the property has not yet been assessed.
