Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has today conducted an all-party meeting to discuss Maratha reservation issue.
While interacting with media after the meeting, Fadnavis said that all the parties were of the same opinion and they had decided to take a unanimous decision on the matter.
The chief minister also clarified that the government had framed a law for Maratha reservation, but the High Court stayed that.
Fadnavis said the state government had framed a law to provide reservation to the Marathas and had even passed an ordinance to the effect. However, the Bombay High Court had stayed it, he said.
On July 24, Maratha groups had called for a complete Maharashtra Bandh.
The Maratha Kranti Morcha Coordination Committee had declared a Maharashtra Bandh in order to protest against the delay on government's part in taking a decision of the topic of reservation for Maratha community.
The community is demanding reservation for quite some time now. The protest turned violent in certain places in Navi Mumbai, especially Koparkhairne.
