Lok Sabha elections 2024: I voted against dictatorship, says Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his family voted in the national capital during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in India on Saturday (May 25).Chief Minister Kejriwal, whowasearlierarrestedin the Delhiexcise policy case, has been granted interim bailtillJune 1.

In a post on X, Kejriwal said, "I voted today with my father, wife and children. My mother is very ill. She could not go. I voted against dictatorship, unemployment and inflation. Youtoomustgo and vote."

Before casting his vote, Kejriwal urged voters to come out and support his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

"I appeal to all my voting brothers and sisters to definitely come and cast their vote. Ask your family, relatives and friendsto also vote. In this great festival of democracy, each of your votes will be against dictatorial thinking and strengthen the Indian democracy and constitution," the chief minister said.

"Go to the polling booth and show with your vote that there is democracy in Indiaanddemocracy will remain," he added.

Voting for all the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi is taking place on Saturday.The top contenders in this election are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the INDIA blocwhichincludesthe AAP and the Congress.

Congress is contesting three seats in Delhiwhilethe AAP is contesting the remaining four.

Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishialleged that Delhi'sLieutenant Governor VK Saxena held a meeting with the police to slow down the voting process in areasthat arestrongholds of the INDIA bloc.

The claim was supported by Kejriwal but denied by Saxenawhosaid he would take strict action against those making such allegations.
