GES 2017 Day 1: Men should create opportunities for female entrepreneurs, says Ivanka Trump

The plenary session is concluded, marks the end of Day 1 at GSE.  

Create a climate that enables entrepreneurship, we have already spoken about tax reforms, access to capital and various other things. A person can benefit from our knowledge, I believe a personal guidance and mentoring can help people a lot. Mentorship is essential - Ivanka Trump concluded

The stage is set for the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit. 

Union Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj and Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman shall also attend the summit. 

Chanda Kochchar, Managing Director and CEO, ICICI Bank Ltd.; Fashion designer Anita Dongre; Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, OLA; Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart; Radhika Aggarwal, Co-Founder & Chief Business Officer, ShopClues.com; Rajashree Natarajan, Chief Operating Officer, Cognizant Foundation; Tennis Player Sania Mirza are among some of the Indian delegates to speak at the summit. 

Over 52.5 per cent of the participants in GES to be women. 

Ahead of GES plenary session, PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Hyderabad Metro.

Thousands of delegates will soon embark upon this entrepreneurial journey - NITI Aayog 

Today's plenary will be moderated by Executive Chairman & Former CEO at Cisco, Mr. John Chambers.

"Today, the attention of the world is on Hyderabad. This city is hosting a prestigious international summit where industry leaders from the world are joining," PM Narendra Modi told reporters at Hyderabad Airport. 

A team of chefs, led by executive Chef Sajesh Nair, will be preparing a five-course Hyderabadi meal for the dinner. Indigenous Hyderabadi ingredients will be used to dish out delectable preparations like Gosht Shikampuri, Qubani ka Malai Kofta among other authentic dishes.

A ride in a horse-drawn carriage and a rose petal shower may also await Ivanka at the regal dinner tonight. 

Prime Minister Modi will be hosting a lavish dinner for Ivanka Trump at Hyderabad's Falaknuma Palace later today. The dining hall can seat 101 guests at a time and is also the largest dining hall in the world. 

Besides inaugurating the summit, PM Modi is also expected to flag off the first phase of the Hyderabad Metro. 

The three-day-long summit will focus on supporting women entrepreneurs with the theme "Women First, Prosperity for All".

GES is co-organised by the NITI Aayog and the government of the United States of America.

Hyderabad is playing host to the first South-Asian edition of the summit.

Global Entrepreneurship Summit is co-hosted by India and the US.

Ivanka Trump -- along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao -- will inaugurate the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Hyderabad today. 

Ivanka landed in Hyderabad early Tuesday morning. 

Security in the city had been beefed up before her arrival.
