LIVE | Manish Sisodia to stay in judicial custody till March 20

As per ANI, Rouse Avenue Court's Spl Judge MK Nagpal has also allowed Sisodia to have medicines prescribed in his MLC conducted by CBI officials.

Based on his lawyer's request, Court has also directed the Jail Superintendent to consider the request of keeping him in Vipassana cell/Meditation cell.

Court grants Manish Sisodia permission to carry a pair of spectacles, diary and pen and Gita during judicial custody period. 

Sisodia sent to judicial custody till March 20.

His bail plea will be heard by the court on March 10.

Atishi Marlena, a leader of the AAP, has also arrived at the Rouse Avenue district court, where Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, has been brought in. Within the courtroom, she encountered Sisodia, and the two greeted one another, as reported by the Indian Express.

Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister of Delhi, has appeared before a Delhi court after his CBI detention period expired. He has been presented at Rouse Avenue District Court before Special Judge MK Nagpal.

The Delhi government changed the excise rules for alcohol in 2021. The state government permitted private vendors and establishments to sell alcohol under the scheme. The major goals were to reduce black marketing and enhance the client experience.

This regulation also permitted the delivery of alcoholic beverages to homes. The businesses might stay open till three in the morning as well. Discounts were freely given by the sellers. The Delhi government claimed a 27 per cent increase in revenue income to Rs 8,900 crore as a result of the strategy.

Naresh Kumar, the chief secretary, had to review the policy before it could be put into effect entirely. In a report sent to Lt. Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena in July 2022, Kumar charged Sisodia with giving disproportionate perks, as per ANI. 

Protests have erupted over Sisodia's arrest in the Delhi liquor police matter. On Saturday, while Sisodia was on his way to the court, several Aam Aadmi Party workers staged a protest in central Delhi.

Sisodia has said in this bail petition that he is being subjected to the same questions repeatedly which is causing him mental harassment. His lawyer has stressed that keeping him in custody will "serve no fruitful purpose".

Sources say that CBI is not likely to ask for an extension of his custody and may recommend a 14-day judicial custody for Sisodia. He has moved a bail petition which will be heard this Friday.

Sisodia resigned from his post as the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi on February 28 after the arrest. Sisodia was sent to CBI's custody for five days and was produced in the court on March 4. The Rouse Avenue Court extended Sisodia's CBI remand in the Delhi liquor scam case for two more days.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was arrested and sent to CBI custody in the Delhi excise policy case, will be produced in court on Monday. His arrest came due to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the excise policy of the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).
