Kolkata doctor rape & murder case: Victim was bleeding from eyes, private parts, says autopsy report

The initial autopsy report into the brutal rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee doctor in the Indian city of Kolkata revealed that the victim's body had multiple injury marks. Citing the report, the news agency PTI reported during the weekend that the trainee doctor was bleeding from her eyes and mouth.

The report said that there were injuries over the face and nail, adding, that the victim was also bleeding from her private parts. "She also has injuries in her belly, left leg... neck, in her right hand, ring finger and... lips," the report added.

A police officer told PTI that this wasdefinitely not a case of suicide. "The woman was murdered following sexual assault." The police had initially said it was suicide and then said it was murder.

A look at the gruesome case

The post-graduate trainee doctor studied atthe RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. She was found raped and murdered at the institute on August 9.

A man was arrested in connection with the gruesome crime. He was identified as Sanjay Roy. The incident has sparked widespread condemnation with political parties hurling accusations while doctors and nurses led protests across India.

At the time of committing the crimeand murdering the trainee doctor, the accused was drunk. After committing the gruesome act, he went back home to sleep and later washed his clothes to destroy evidence, the police said.

Accused married many times, watched violent porn

Following the arrest ofRoy, media reports said that the man was married many times and three of his previous wives left him because of misconduct. A report by India Today said that Roy was married four times with three of his wives leaving him due to his abusive behaviour. The fourth wife died due to cancer in 2023.

The report said that Roy used to frequently return home late at night in a drunken state. The police said that Roy used to watch violent pornographic videos and such videos were found in his mobile phone.
