'Keep expressing and discussing freely,' PM Modi's message on Social Media Day

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter today and greeted the country on the occasion of Social Media Day. PM Modi tweeted out noting the significance of social media in "democratising our discourse and giving a platform to millions of people around the world to express their views and showcase their creativity".

He congratulated and lauded youngsters for encouraging "innovative usage of social media".

"Their frank method of conveying opinions is extremely endearing. I urge youngsters to continue expressing and discussing freely," the Prime Minister tweeted.

Social Media Day, now in its ninth year, was initiated in the year 2010 by a digital media company called Mashable.

Every year, Social Media Day is observed to encourage social media innovations and celebrate its impact on promoting and facilitating communication across the globe.
