Kathua gang rape case: Child's family wants Supreme Court to shift trial out of Jammu

The family of the eight-year-old girl who was brutally gang-raped and murdered in Kathua in January has approached the Supreme Court, asking for security and for the trial to be transferred out of Kathua.

The top court will hear their plea at 2:00 pm today.

The petition comes even as the trial in the case began at Kathua today morning. The next day for the hearing is April 28.

The accused allegedly held the girl in captivity in a small village temple in Kathua district for a week in January this year during which she was kept sedated and sexually assaulted before being bludgeoned to death.
