Prajwal Revanna arrest: Ex-JD(S) MP brought to hospital for medical examination

Former Janata Dal (Secular)- JD(S) MP PrajwalRevanna was arrested at the Bengaluru airport early Friday (May 31) and brought to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) office. Revanna, who has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple women, is likely to face a probe by theSpecial Investigation Team (SIT) over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who worked in his household.

The SIT of the Karnataka governmentdetained Revanna on his arrival at the Kempagowda International Airport, the news agency ANI reported.According to officials, Revanna will be produced in court later on Friday in connection with the obscene videos case. Earlier in the day, Revanna was broughtto Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru for medical examination.

1) The SIT has issued a notice toRevanna's mother Bhavanifor questioning in a case registered under IPC sections 64(A), 365, 109, 120(B). SIT has asked her to be present at her house in Holenarasipur on June 1, ANI reported on Friday.

2) Advocate Arun, representing Prajwal Revanna arrives at the CID office, in Bengaluru. His arrival comes as Revanna will be produced in court later in the day.

3) Prajwal Revannareturned to India from Berlin, Germany, nearly a month after leaving the country on a diplomatic passport and was immediately taken into custody.

4) Ahead of his arrival in Bengaluru, security was tightenedoutside the CID office, ANI reported.

5) On May 27, Revenna said in the video that he would appear before the SIT on Friday.Revanna said that his trip was pre-planned as there was no case against him when the voting was held in Karnataka on April 26 for the general elections.

6) He also alleged political conspiracy against him as he was "growing in politics."

7)The anticipatory bail filed by the former JD(S) MP on Wednesdayis still pending in court. Revanna's anticipatory bail plea was filed hours after the SIT arrested two prime accused in connection with the case.

8) Revanna had been out of Indiaafter obscene video clips were circulated days before Karnataka voted on April 26.Revanna faces three cases filed by several women.

9) Earlier, Revanna's father and former Karnataka ministerHDRevanna was also arrested in a kidnapping case filed by the son of one of the women linked to the harassment case and who had gone missing.He has since been released on bail. On Friday, the Karnataka High Court has adjourned the hearing on the petition filed by HD Revanna till June 3. The petition seeks quashing of the FIR lodged at KR Nagara police station against him and others for allegedly abducting the sexual assault victim.

10) Both father and son have said the cases are part of a political conspiracy against their family. The case has become a flashpointin the ongoing elections, with opposition leaders criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government for allowing Revannato flee.
