Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah summoned by Lokayukta for questioning in Mysuru Land scam case

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been summoned by the Lokayukta police to appear before it on Wednesday (Nov 6) for questioning in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land allotment case.

Earlier, the Lokayukta police questioned Siddaramaiah's wife Parvathi BM in connection with the case.

This comes after a court declared that the governor was within his rights to allow the questioning of the CM by the Lokayukta.

Later in the day, Siddaramaiah confirmed that he would appear before the Mysuru Lokayukta regarding the investigation.

"Yes, Mysore Lokayukta has issued a notice regarding MUDA. I will go to Mysore Lokayukta on 6th November," Siddaramaiah said.

The land scam case is linked to the MUDA scheme, according to which 50 per cent of developed land would be allocated to individuals who had relinquished undeveloped land for residential projects.

Social activists alleged that the process involved irregularities, which led to a significant financial loss to the state.

CM Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, was summoned out of those involved in the case, by Lokayukta police on October 25.

However, Siddaramaiah has denied all the allegations, calling it "politically motivated", adding that the land allotment to his wife took place during BJPadministration, framing it as a legitimate compensation process.
