Kangana Ranaut confesses on stage 'I am not a man hater'

The queen of controversies, actress Kangana Ranaut is again in news for her statement on Saturday.

The "Simran"star waspart of a group of actors and directors who got together to inaugurate the opening ceremony of Jagran Cinema Summit in Mumbai. It is the first ever Indian cinema summit where filmmakers, marekters, and distributors got together to share their insights on the future of cinema.

Renowned filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, actress Kangana Ranaut, Vinod Srivastava of Jagran Prakashan Ltd. and Ajay Brahmatmaj were all present to kickstart the ceremony.

While Shekhar Kapur was seen addressing new-age filmmakers to utilise the new-age technology platforms for an immersive storytelling, Kangana took the dias to open up about her brand of feminism.

She was happy to be identified as a staunch feminist but added: "I am not a man-hater". She felt that the Indian cinema industry is in a "sorry state of affairs" due to inequality between genders. She said that feminism today has taken the shape of a dialogue because of these misdoings of the industry. She also spoke about how a person's opinions has nothing to do with their profession. She said that she "before an actress" is "a woman and citizen of the country with a freedom of expression".

While the first-panel discussion saw some fiery remarks from Kangana and insightful advice from Shekhar, the second-panel discussion focused on "changes in the economics of filmmaking" taking the example of "Baahubali".

Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt called it an "event experience" similar to the charisma of "Mughal-E-Azam". Sajid Khan added to this by calling "Baahubali"a case which spread like wildfire, tugging at people who don't come to cinema halls to watch a movie.
