Actor turned politician Kamal Haasan urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up Cauvery Management Board (CMB) in order to find a solution to the Cauvery water dispute on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters, Makkal Needhi Maiam founder said that prime minister has the authority to set up the CMB and he should do so.
When asked whether the Centre is delaying setting up the CMB because of the impending Karnataka elections, Kamal said that is ''pedestrian perception''.
The actor also said that he would launch a state-wide demonstration if the Central government failed to act on the issue.
Earlier the actor-turned-politician expressed shock at the Supreme Court's verdict on Cauvery River water dispute that reduced Tamil Nadu's share in the disputed waters.

"I am also shocked at the reduction in the supply of water. I have to get more details about the actual judgment but I think the Supreme Court firmly said that water cannot be owned by any state. That's a consoling factor," Haasan then said at a press conference here.
In its verdict on the dispute, the Supreme Court allotted an additional 14.75 TMC of river water to the state of Karnataka and reduced Tamil Nadu's share from 192 TMC to 177.25 TMC.
The parties to the dispute were the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, who challenged the 2007 order of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal (CWDT) on the sharing of Cauvery, the Ganga of southern India.
Superstar Rajinikanth also batted for setting up of the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), saying it was the "only acceptable just solution for us" in the inter-state river water dispute involving Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
"On the Cauvery issue setting up of CMB will be the only acceptable just solution for us. I sincerely hope justice will prevail," the actor tweeted earlier today.
