J&K: Encounter underway between security forces and terrorists in Shopian; 2 terrorists killed

An encounter is currently underway between terrorists and security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, news agency ANI reported quoting police sources.

According to a report by IANS, two terrorists have been killed in the encounter.Their exact identities and affiliations are being ascertained.

Based on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Gahand area of Shopian in south Kashmir, security forces launched a cordon and search operation inthemorning, a police officersaid.

According to him, forces were conducting searches when terrorists fired upon them.

The forces retaliated, resulting in an encounter, the officer said, adding the exchange of firing was going on and further details are awaited.
