J&K: 5.6-magnitude earthquake hits Kashmir, tremors felt in Srinagar

An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 struck Kashmir on Tuesday night around 10pm, news agency ANI reported.

The earthquake struck 118 km north-west of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said on its website.

Tremors were felt in various parts of the valley. No loss of life or property has been reported so far, more details are awaited.

Former J&K chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah tweeted out, "Srinagar rocks!"
