Jammu and Kashmir: Two terrorists 'eliminated' by security forces in Baramulla district

Indian security forces reportedly killed two terrorists in an encounter, which erupted in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday (Jun 19).
Officials had started a cordon and search operation early morning in the Hadipora village in the district as a joint team of police and security forces had input about the presence of terrorists in that area.
That was when an encounter startedbetween the security forces and the terrorists.
"On specific intelligence input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice today in Hadipora area of PD Sopore; two terrorists eliminated, operation in progress," the Indian Army's Chinar Corps informed on X.
India-based news agency PTI quoted a senior police official as saying: "A cordon and search operation was launched in the Watergam area of Baramulla district this morning based on specific intelligence about the presence of terrorists."
"The operation turned into an encounter when the terrorists started firing on our forces," the unnamed official added.
The official added that two bodies have been seen at the scene of the gunbattle, but they have not been retrieved yet.
As per the news agency, the gunbattle led to injuries to two security personnel – a police constable and an army jawan.
