According to reports, a policeman lost his life in a militant attack that took place in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district earlier today.

Constable Shamim Ahmad was reported injured when militants opened fire at a guard post in Wadwan village in the valley. Shamim was moved to the nearest hospital but succumbed to injuries.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, more details are awaited.

Kashmir's Soi bug area in Budgam saw massive clashes today where a youth was hit by abullet in his leg. The victim has been moved to the nearest hospital.

Last Sunday, five civilians were killed in the clashes that broke out between civilians and security forces in parts of Jammu and Kashmir following the encounter of five terrorists.

The clashes erupted in Kashmir's Shopian, Pulwama and other parts after the security forces gunned down five terrorists in South Kashmir's Shopian Badigam on Sunday.

Two security personnel were also injured in the joint operation which was carried out by the army, the police and the Central Reserve Police Force.

The encounter started at Badigam village's Imama Sahib where the terrorists were trapped inside a house.
