Jammu and Kashmir: NSA Ajit Doval visits Srinagar, asks authorities to ensure safety of locals

National Security Advisor (NSA) on Friday visited the downtown Srinagar and reviewed the security and law and order situation in the area.

Doval interacted with locals and had lunch with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. He also directed authorities to ensure that no local was harassed.

He also asked the authorities to take stock of requirements of locals and address them swiftly,

Earlier in the day, Dilbag Singh, director-general of police in Kashmir said that locals in Kashmir can offer Friday prayers in mosques within their neighbourhood without restriction.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday assured the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladhak that they would notface any problem in celebrating the festival of Eid on Monday.

Furthermore, Army chief General Bipin Rawat saidthat the overall situation is under control and the Armed forces are on high alert and closely monitoring the situation.

The restrictions in Kashmir wereimposed on Sunday before the government revoked Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the state into two Union Territories - Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
