Jammu and Kashmir: Gunfight breaks out between security forces and terrorists in Kupwara’s Tanghdar sector

An encounter between security forces and terrorists began in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara on Saturday morning.

The gunfight took place near Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of north Kashmir. Reports inform that Army's 6 Gadhwal and a group of militants had a stand-off in the dense woods of Balthedyan along the LoC adjacent to Tony Post.

Security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in the area of Kupwara this morning following information about the presence of militants in the area, an army official said.

He said some gunshots were exchanged at the start of the operation which was continuing when the last reports were received.
