Jamia University to approach police to file FIR into Sunday's violence

The Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia Univesity Najma Akhtar on Monday said that they will be approaching the police to file an FIR into Sunday's violence.

''You can rebuild the property but you cannot compensate for the things the students went through. We demand a high-level inquiry. We will file an FIR against the entry of Police on our university campus,'' she said.

Akhtar was briefing the media over yesterday's incident.

She further said that there has been a lot of property damage in the University and there has been an emotional loss as well. Yesterday's incident was unfortunate. I appeal to everyone to not believe in any kind of rumours,'' she further said.

The vice-chancellor also strongly denied the rumour that two students have died following the incident.

''We deny this totally, none of our students died. About 200 people were injured of which many were our students,'' she said.
